Just like Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2010 will end its support as well. Luckily this expiration date isn’t until Oct. 13, 2020, so we still have roughly a year before support ends for this product.
What end of support means is that there will no longer be updates for this product and most updates for Office fix performance issues and patch security flaws. That means if your Office 2010 installation is not running properly or is completely broken, there will be no patch from Microsoft to fix the issue. Your version of Office would probably need to be uninstalled and re-installed. Eventually Windows 10 will not allow you to install Office 2010 on its operating system and then you will have to buy a new version of Office.
Again, this end of support date is still almost a year away and your installation of Office 2010 should still work just fine even after the cutoff date. However, if any files that are part of the installation break or are damaged there will be no fix for this product. So, start planning now to go to a new version of Office, if you are running Office 2010 or earlier. You can save yourself some hassle down the road.
