That’s right everybody, we here at iCitizen are already counting down to 2020! More specifically January 14, 2020. Reason being is that the very popular Windows 7 operating system runs out of extended support on this day.
What does that mean for you? It means that your Windows 7 machine will no longer receive updates from Windows for your system. Now most people probably would be okay with not receiving updates anymore, but the downside to not receiving updates is that most updates are for security purposes. With no more security patches coming to your machine it makes you more vulnerable to viruses and being hacked. Now it’s not like your machine will quit working after this cutoff date because it will still work, but we highly recommend NOT using it online anymore after January 14, 2020. Lot’s of people we have talked to have been putting off replacing their Windows 7 machines until we get really close to the cutoff date, but now is the time to really start considering upgrading your machine to Windows 10, if possible, or replacing your machine with a new one.
If you have any questions about what happens on this date, if your machine can be upgraded to 10 or if you should replace your machine, give us a call here at iCitizen and we can talk to you about your options.
