When you move your mouse on your computer screen, do you find that it is too fast and you lose track of where it is? Or, do you find it’s too slow and you wish you could speed it up?
This isn’t an issue we run into often with customers, but I’m sure many people have thought about it and thought there was nothing they could do about it. There is a way to change how fast the mouse moves on your screen.
First, click on your Start Button then click on the Settings icon (the little gear icon). Next, click on the Devices section of the Windows Settings screen. Once on that screen there will be a list of options on the left side of the screen; click on Mouse. From this screen you can change the scroll settings, if you wish.
Now click on the Additional Mouse Options link in the upper right corner. This will bring up a little window with multiple tabs across the top. You can change different settings in these tabs, such as how fast you have to click for a double-click to register, what type of pointer you want to use, more scrolling settings, etc. The section we are looking for says Pointer Options.
From this section, the first setting we can change is Motion — Select a Pointer Speed. There’s a slider that you can change by moving closer to slower or faster. However fast you want your cursor to move is which side of the slider you will move the blue tab toward. Once you have a speed in mind hit the Apply button in the bottom right corner and this will apply your changes.
If it’s still not at the speed you like, just test different speeds and hit Apply each time until you find the speed that is right for you.
