Adding another user to Windows 10

Do you have just one computer in the house and everyone needs to use it, but they clutter up the desktop with their own icons, or they accidentally delete one of your files? Do you wish they had their own account on the computer to mess around with instead of yours?

Like all other Windows computers, you can set up multiple accounts on Windows 10 so that everyone has their own space on the computer. This especially works great if relatives visit and they want to use your computer, but you don’t want them messing with the content on your account.

To set up another account on Windows 10, you first need to go to the Settings page. Once in Settings, go to the Accounts section. After clicking on Accounts it will bring you to a page with the info on your profile, but on the left side there is another list of options to choose from and you want to select Family & Other Users. When this page is displayed you need to click on the “+ Add Someone Else to this PC” option in the middle of your page.

Once you click on that it will prompt you to sign in with a Microsoft account. If you wish to sign in with a Microsoft account, you can enter your Microsoft Account information and set up the profile that way, but most users will want to set up a local user account.

To do this, after you’ve clicked on the “+” symbol and the Microsoft sign-in page comes up, click on the “I don’t have this person’s sign-in information” link that’s highlighted in blue.

Clicking on that link will bring you to a page to create a Microsoft account, where you can create one if you choose to. To create a local account, click on the link that says, “Add a user without a Microsoft account.” Enter the name of the account you want to set up and choose to add a password, if you wish. Click Next after you have the information entered. Now you have another account on your machine. On the sign-in screen you can choose which account to sign into whenever you wish.
